Information about Illinois Watch Company
Illinois Watch Company was founded in 1869 by J.C. Adams and was called the Illinois Springfield Watch Company. In 1879 it became Springfield Illinois Watch Company, and finally Illinois Watch Company in 1885. Illinois watches were produced until 1939, although the company was sold to Hamilton in 1927, and after 1933 watches bearing the Illinois name were produced at the Hamilton factory. One feature of the Illinois movement is that many of them were given names, more than any other watch manufacturer. Illinois Watch Company made many fine quality railroad watches over the years.
