Dollar watches were produced beginning in 1892 by Ingersoll. Their first dollar watch (actually sold for $1.00) had no jewels and was mass produced. By 1899 they could produce 8,000 watches a day using mass production methods. Other early dollar watch manufacturers including Waterbury Clock Co., US Time Corp, Ingraham, Westclox and others and continued into the 1960's selling popular dollar type pocket watches.
